As a child, Toby Pomeroy lived on the plains and hills of India with his medical-missionary parents. He was mesmerized by the native artisans and their ability to create beautiful art using only their imagination and simple tools. It was this fascination that would affect the rest of his life. While a pre-med student, he stumbled into a jewelry-making class and immediately switched his focus from calculus, physics and cellular physiology to jewelry design.

Growing up in India, Toby discovered his commitment to life in balance. In 2006 Toby Pomeroy sparked a revolution in the jewelry industry when he made a conscious decision to stop contributing to the massive environmental and social disasters caused by the precious metal mining industry by creating a line of recycled metals. Today TOBY POMEROY™ is a world leader in environmentally sustainable and socially responsible jewelry. Using graceful shapes, clean lines and beautiful textures, each piece lends itself to everyday wear. He has built a jewelry design and production firm that is not only extremely successful but maintains environmental consciousness.

Driven by his love of nature and determined to incorporate green practices in his studio, Pomeroy requested that all of his metals be supplied to him entirely of scraps, purified, and re-alloyed. The launch of EcoGold™ and EcoSilver™ set a new standard, defining ethical luxury in ways never seen previously. Marrying timeless design with social responsibility, TOBY POMEROY jewelry truly makes sustainability beautiful. Toby’s intention was to give designers, manufacturers and retailers reclaimed EcoGold and EcoSilver that they could feel good about and be proud of and, most importantly, put pressure on the mining industry, sending them a message that the world cares and is watching how they’re treating the planet and its people.

Inspired by the patient craftspeople of India and touched by the natural beauty of the environment, Toby became fascinated with nature-influenced design. Today, TOBY POMEROY studio is a handful of young artists who, fascinated with texture and form, live to work with their hands.

Their commitment to live, learn and create in harmony has the artisans forging reclaimed and source-certified, Fairmined TRUE GOLD™ metals into graceful forms inspired by the simplicity of nature. While technologies have come and gone in the over forty years that Toby Pomeroy has designed jewelry, his studio continues to pursue the purity of the ancient craft. Like their process, the studio’s designs are timeless, refined and beautiful.

Surrounded by the beauty of Corvallis Oregon, goldsmith and environmentalist Pomeroy begins with a single piece of gold wire of a few grams. Placing it on his prized old anvil, he works quickly with deft blow, hammering first the rough shape of his signature hoop, then the final fluid details of the clasp. Pomeroy’s artistry is a tribute to gold, the most malleable of elements, a paradox of softness and strength.
