Christopher White, and Corey Silverman of The Furnace: A Glassworks Studio for September’s First Friday Artwalk. The Squash Blossom will host a Todd Reed Trunk Show from August 24-26.  Todd Reed is a former resident of Colorado Springs, having graduated high school here.  His studio is now in Boulder, Colorado.  Todd Reed specializes in the use of raw diamonds and environmentally sustainable material.  Raw diamonds are the fastest growing industry within jewelry, largely because of the work done by Todd.  As he started drawing critical acclaim, he challenged the idea of what we consider precious.  He wants each of his pieces to have character.  When talking to a newspaper in Huston, he said, “When something is...

The Squash Blossom is happy to welcome back two Colorado artists for our August 3 ArtWalk: painter Nora Larimer and sculptor Timothy Nimmo. Nora Larimer specializes in landscapes, working in both watercolor and oil.  Traveling has been a huge influence on her artwork, from the coast of Maine to Amish Settlements in Ohio.  Internationally, she has painted scenes from Italy, South East Asia, and Central America.  She currently lives in Buena Vista, Colorado, where she also owns the Rock Run Gallery. Colorado Springs' Building: a Witness to History

The Squash Blossom Colorado Springs’ building has been a witness of much of Old Colorado City’s long and fascinating history. Built in 1889, the building was home to a boarding house, saloon, and cafe.  Colorado Springs was a dry city, so alcohol was only available for consumption in Colorado City, which was not yet under the jurisdiction of Colorado Springs.  There were tunnels beneath the streets so that gentlemen could cross from the respectable side to the scandalous side, with saloons and brothels, without anyone on the streets noticing.  The Squash Blossom’s owners, John and Patti Cogswell purchased the building...
