The first Art Walk of the year may have been changed to a virtual visit, but we are still here to celebrate our spotlight Artists for April. This month we have Chris Hureau as our featured fine artist and Joyla as our featured jewelry designer.
Bright and detailed with a soft peacefulness about them, Chris Hureau paints in oil these realistic landscapes to capture moments in time that he knows will inevitably change drastically, or one day even disappear.
He says: “I feel it's important to capture them while it's still possible", and with his careful attention to detail and earthy palette, it’s easy to absorb and admire the moments as if we were actually there.
For 17 years, Hureau worked as the Senior Illustrator and Designer at the Air Force Academy, illustrating teaching materials such as “The Air Force Academy Natural History Guide” and “Amphibians and Reptiles of The Air Force Academy”. He deigned the current Air Force Academy display at the Colorado Springs Airport and has illustrated many promotional materials for local tourism products.
Handcrafted in Switzerland, Joyla jewelry has a fresh and modern European aesthetic. Wearable everyday pieces that take you from the office right into a night on the town.
Joyla designs feature semi-precious stones and high karat gold vermeil over sterling silver, creating unique beauty in every piece. Stunning yet simple. Elegant and colorful.
